Everyone should be able to move through our shared public spaces and buildings in a safe and dignified way. In complex environments such as stations, terminals, and other public transport hubs, universal design is not just a feature – it’s a fundamental design principle that ensures equal access and high functionality for all, regardless of physical or cognitive ability.

Vækerø Station
Oslo, Norway
Gottlieb Paludan Architects has won the competition to design Vækerø Station on the Fornebu rail line in Oslo, in association with L2 Arkitekter.
Vækerø Station is located inside a mountain and the design is, therefore, based on the relationship between nature and the new infrastructure represented by the Metro. The station is built as a long, continuous connection between to entrances designed to reproduce the experience of going into and through the mountain.
