Nature & Climate

At Gottlieb Paludan Architects, we view the interaction between nature, climate, and architecture as the foundation for creating sustainable and relevant solutions. We believe that a strong society is built on a harmonious balance between people and nature, where we collaborate with - rather than work against - natural processes. In a time of climate change and biodiversity crisis, it is more important than ever to develop solutions that integrate nature considerations and climate resilience. Our approach combines technical and aesthetic aspects to create projects that strengthen both nature and community.

Analysis as the foundation for nature and climate solutions

Creating nature and climate solutions requires systematic analysis and holistic thinking. At Gottlieb Paludan Architects, we conduct thorough early-stage analyses of an area’s natural qualities, climatic challenges, and potentials to establish clear objectives for both climate resilience and biodiversity. This approach ensures projects are economically sustainable, reduces future operational costs, and enables the right decisions to be made from the outset. In this way, each project becomes an investment in the future of both climate and nature. We develop scenarios for land use and climate solutions that integrate stormwater management, ecological restoration, and biodiversity-enhancing measures. Our solutions actively engage with the surroundings and create added value for both nature and users.
We calculate the carbon footprint of projects and develop solutions that support biodiversity and reduce the need for resources for operation and maintenance.

Our approach

We prioritize the whole in everything we do. For us, this means that architecture must balance technical requirements, visual quality, and functional value. Our approach is rooted in close collaboration with the client and a deep understanding of the specific context. Through integrated consulting, we ensure that all aspects of a project — from design and economics to biodiversity and climate — work together. At the same time, we simplify complex processes to provide clear and straightforward solution proposals. We see beauty as an integrated value that highlights the core idea of the project and adds sustainability both aesthetically and functionally.
