Gottlieb Paludan Architects have been architects on the renovation of a number of stations on the North Line between Copenhagen and Hillerød. This is part of the project “S-train stations of the future”, where DSB is renovating all stations on the S-train network over a period of 8-10 years.
In addition to major renovations of Birkerød, Allerød and Holte Stations, Gottlieb Paludan Architects has contributed to a number of smaller renovation projects at Jægersborg, Gentofte and Sorgenfri Stations. Together, they leave an overall impression of Nordbanen as a coherent and newly renovated line with more light and air, better orientation and arrival conditions, where the qualities of the original station architecture have been respected and emphasized.

A new open space with historic views
The station square at Holte Station has been expanded with a new area between the station building and the post office. A building from the 1960s has been demolished and replaced by an open space with access to the platforms via a glass staircase and elevator building. The demolition has left an open and uncluttered space between the two historic buildings with views of the station area and Lake Vejle to the west.
