Cycling Solutions

Cycling plays a vital role in the cities of tomorrow. It offers a smart response to urban congestion, pollution, and sedentary lifestyles — while strengthening mobility in both city centers and surrounding areas. A well-designed cycling environment makes it easy to choose the bike for everyday travel and connects key functions across the urban landscape.

Designing infrastructure that encourages cycling

At Gottlieb Paludan Architects, we create cycling solutions that combine functionality, aesthetics, and user behavior. We design bike lanes, parking facilities, and connections that promote safe and efficient movement — both as stand-alone projects and as integrated parts of broader mobility strategies. Regardless of size or setting, we prioritize accessibility, wayfinding, and urban quality in every design.

Cyclist-centered design

Our designs begin with the cyclist’s perspective — from ease of access and intuitive flow to comfort and a sense of safety. Good cycling infrastructure is easy to navigate and a pleasure to use. By combining durable materials, thoughtful lighting, and greenery, we create environments that are both practical and inviting. Our designs guide correct use while adding lasting value to the public realm.

Supporting sustainable urban mobility

We work across disciplines and in close collaboration with municipalities, transport agencies, and users. Our approach brings together strategic planning and architectural design, always rooted in local needs and behaviours. In international projects, we adapt to the local cycling culture - or help foster one - and design solutions that make biking an attractive, accessible choice. By integrating cycling into the broader mobility network, we help shape cohesive systems that support the transition to more sustainable urban transport.
