Everyone should be able to move through our shared public spaces and buildings in a safe and dignified way. In complex environments such as stations, terminals, and other public transport hubs, universal design is not just a feature – it’s a fundamental design principle that ensures equal access and high functionality for all, regardless of physical or cognitive ability.

Safe school roads in Kgs. Enghave
Copenhagen, Denmark
Gottlieb Paludan Architects were the architects on the project “Safe School Road in Kongens Enghave”, which improved the conditions for light road users in the heavily trafficked district.
In connection with the students' way to and from the new Sydhavn School, the City of Copenhagen wanted to implement a general improvement of cyclists and pedestrians' traffic conditions in Kongens Enghave. The district is intersected by several heavily trafficked roads. An example of one of the 13 Safe Routes to School projects is the upgrade of Sydbanestien, which connects Sjælør and Sydhavn Station.
