Gottlieb Paludan Architects has designed a green facade which encloses a new district cooling plant for HOFOR Spildevand København A/S at Fælleddiget.

The new district-cooling plant is placed secluded on the plot of Fælleddiget 2, which makes up an area of about 3,670 m². The plant is constructed with a height of 7.1 metres and built without a roof. It produces climate-friendly solutions for organizations in need of cooling, in Ørestad City.

Gottlieb Paludan Architects have been responsible for designing a facade cladding, which ensures the integration of the district cooling plant within the surrounding environment. The styling of the façade consists of vertical wooden slats with planting and break out amenities in the form of benches along the façade. The planting is strategically placed in order to facilitate a transition between ”the common” around the building and the garden-like character of the residential neighbourhood. District cooling has several environmental benefits compared to conventional cooling solutions, including for example a reduction of CO2 emissions.
