Lighting is an indispensable part of our daily lives. It shapes the environments in which we live and work, and has a significant impact on our well-being. When the lighting is right, it supports our activities, creates a sense of security, and enhances the visual experience of the spaces we inhabit. This is why it is crucial that lighting design is planned with care and insight to support both function and aesthetics in our spaces and buildings.

Copenhagen Central Station, Transformation and upgrade
Copenhagen, Denmark
Gottlieb Paludan Architects was the architectural consultant on a comprehensive renovation and renewal of Copenhagen Central Station. The modernization of Copenhagen Central Station consisted of a number of sub-projects and included renovation of the station's large roof structures, the concrete structures under the departure hall and at the railway trench, extension of platforms and renewal of the aprons.
The renovation of the roof structures was a logistically complex task, as some of the work was carried out from scaffolding above the rails while the trains passed by. Two of the long-distance train platforms have been extended under the station hall.
Renewal of platform sections under conservation considerations
The lighting is a specially developed ceiling flood system complemented by scattered downlights that evoke sunlight.
The project won the Danish Light Award in 2009.
